This project is about creating an oasis, a living room that transports you to a place of serenity. After my initial consultation with the clients, I knew what their vision was about so I started by creating a few furniture plans specific to their space which had challenging proportions and circulation needs.
We used the placement of the television to drive the layouts, landing on a new location which turned the room's focus 180°.
After seeing what the living room could look like, I proposed a few changes to the kitchen as well to make the space more cohesive.
After our second round of revisions and furniture mock-ups, we settled on our final furniture pieces. As part of the client's contract, I handled creating a bid package and bringing in contractors for walk-thoughs. Once bids were in, I created a leveling spreadsheet so pricing is more transparent between the bidders. Once we selected Home Concepts Construction as our GC we were off to the races! Thanks to Oscar and his incredible attention to detail, every inch of the room is beyond what we had hoped.
The design goals of this room were to have an experience not just through color but texture as well. From the boucle sofa to the sun dappled olive tree, this space is a journey of delight as each detail is whispered as you discover shimmer, shadow and light.
I love finding ways to incorporate family photos into the design, it brings such joy and love to the space! In this design we selected thin frames in a grid to juxtapose the curvilinear nature of the furniture design.
The kitchen was not part of the scope so we changed out the stools to relate to the new design of the living room and added these pendants to visually bridge the opening between the two spaces.
