This transformation went beyond a kitchen remodel and changed the entire living space of this 50's split level. We started by removing the wall and tiny door opening from the kitchen to the dining room. We rearranged the kitchen to allow for more space around the stove and created a massive island to accommodate the owners' frequent entertaining.
The initial design discussions revolved around what kind of space they wanted, what their new kitchen would feel like and after living with dark wood and dropped soffits, our catchword for the design became "Bright!" We were with them every step of the way making multiple showroom visits to explore all the exciting choices we had to make and created spec boards with choices for everything from lighting to hardware.
Removing the wall required a new structural support to be installed to support the load and we opted for a beam that would be flush with the ceiling so the rooms would flow together. New hardwood was run and stained to match which allowed the new kitchen to feel completely connected with the dining and living rooms.
During the kitchen design process, we determined that a pantry just wouldn't fit in the kitchen so we did the next best thing and created additional storage as a display that faces into the living room. These gorgeous cabinets tie all the spaces together and provide ample storage for china, servingware, and pantry goods.
Before remodeling, the kitchen had a serious pinch point at the doorway which was extra-inconvenient because the stove was positioned there as well. We did many iterations regarding the distance the new island would be from the counter to ensure that flow would never be an issue again. Besides removing the wall, getting rid of the dated soffit and bringing the cabinets up to the ceiling made the whole room soar.
The final step is staging; after all the messy demo, time-consuming construction, and final cleanup we came over to help organize and style the kitchen. Pulling from their own decor items and working with what appliances they wanted on their counters, we arranged everything so the family would have a space that fit all their needs, not just the aesthetic ones. This turn-key service assures that the project doesn't end when the construction does, but rather when your new space is truly your home.
